About us

South Cowichan Youth Softball Association (SCYSA)was founded in the spring of 1987. It was created as a fun league for the youth of the south end to enjoy the game of Softball without the competitive nature of the organized leagues.

SCYSA is not affiliated with any other league, club or association. SCYSA is a co-ed league from ages 6 – 18, comprised of 5 age specific divisions. We do not have try outs, nor is there any travelling. All games are played at Kerry Park and/or Shawnigan Hills. We play orthodox softball and play by the general rules of softball with the exception of a few house rules for the benefit of the game.

Although we cater mainly to the south end, we welcome any one that would like to play. Our season is short, running from April, to the end of June, with the deciding games being held the last Saturday before school lets out for Summer. Every attempt is made to create even teams by dividing them equally by age, gender, and skill level. All of the teams are sponsored by local businesses. Play offs for the older 3 divisions are held with medals for first and second. Sportsmanship is a primary focus with the sportsmanship trophy being awarded to the teams with the most sportsmanlike conduct during the season.

The coaches, assistant coaches and the executive are all volunteers who strive for a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for the youth and parents of the south end.

We are a league serious about having fun!
